Class 4 - 1/17/2009

Here's a summary of what we covered this week:

• Reviewed Chord Construction Techniques : Discussed building dominant 7ths by lowering a note from the diminished 7th chord. Using 3 diminished 7th chords to create all 12 dominant 7ths. Playing dominant 7ths through the circle of 5th within a 4-fret region of the neck. Converting dominants to minor 7ths, major 7ths, 6ths, minor 6ths, half-diminished, etc.
  
• Melodic Fragments: Minor, Dominant 7th and Major 7th melodic fragments.
  
• John Coltrane's "Lazy Bird": Applied melodic fragments to the chord progression of "Lazy Bird."
  
• "Lazy Bird" Chords: Using the construction principles to find all chords for the progression within any 4-fret region of the neck.
